The exhibition Mission in Motion: Peace Made Possible, which was launched and displayed at the UN headquarters in New York from May-July 2016, is now being shown in Stockholm until 24 October.
The exhibition tells the story of UN peace operations without simplifying what is an inherently a complex flow of actions and developments.
Peace operations are often described as moving from one activity and process to another, from keeping peace to building peace, from protecting people from violent physical threats to protecting human rights and socio-economic development. In practice, however, the peace operations of today unfold in a dynamic manner, constantly adapting to changing conditions and needs on the ground; moving back and forth, up and down, depending on resources, achievements, setbacks, challenges and opportunities.
The exhibition is located at the Swedish Defence University, Drottning Kristinas väg 71, 114 28 Stockholm. This is the same building where the Folke Bernadotte Academy and the International Secretariat of the Challenges Forum have their offices.
The exhibition was developed and curated by the Challenges Forum and Färgfabriken in consultation with the UN Departments for Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support.
