Japanese symposium on Evolution of Peace Operations

How is the international community dealing with increasingly complex conflicts around the world?

That was the main question discussed by frontline experts and experienced speakers in a webinar organised 17 March, by the Challenges Forum partner International Peace Cooperation Headquarters, Cabinet Office of Japan. The event was sponsored by UN Information Centre Tokyo.

The very interesting symposium highlighted the complex and diverse peace efforts made by the international community, as well as the challenges we are facing. Pernilla Rydén, Director of the Challenges Forum International Secretariat participated as a commentator. She stressed the importance of returning to the HIPPO recommendations as well as focusing on people-centered activities. “There are only political solutions to conflicts”, she said.
