BACKGROUND PAPER Interfaces Between Peace Operations and Organized Crime

Implications for Police Work and Beyond.

Why is it important to translate threat awareness into policy and instruments and to enable peace operations to better deal with the threat posed by Organized Crime and what could be possible measures to do so?

In order to answer these questions it might be helpful to look at some of the interfaces between peace operations and organized crime first. I suggest below an analytical roster or model made up of seven possible interfaces which might assist in structuring the various linkages and in assessing threats to
peace operations, mandate implementation and host-nation stability. In doing so, it might also help structure our thinking on the corresponding need for action.
